Softball @ SmileyThe girls opened up the season with a big 16-2 win against Smiley Middle School. Solid defense was played by all, highlighted by the glove work of Argelia Vega and Vanessa Lechuga.Lizette Delgado pitched 4 strong innings striking out 1 and holding Smiley to 2 runs. Miranda Sanchez came in to pitch the 5th, and struck out 2 while giving up no runs. Sanchez is scheduled to pitch today for the Tigers, and Delgado will come out of the bullpen for the final inning. Margarita Marquez and Satya Akquia both knocked in 4 runs on the day. Rosemary Hernandez and Heather Declay each knocked in 2 to help the cause. Decimated by lack of starters having physicals, the 6th graders really stepped up and carried what was available of the team. Way to go girls! Previous Game News
